c. (1989?) one(?) F-5B ex ROCAF |
||||
|
If this aircraft was indeed not part of the 1989 ROCAF package it could be another candidate for the aircraft traded against a P-51 Mustang previously exhibited at the PAF Museum at Villamor AB and heavily damaged in a typhoon. See > „13326“. |

c. 1993 one(?) F-5A ex ROCAF(?) |
||||
|
Most likely the aircraft traded against a P-51 Mustang previously exhibited at the PAF Museum at Villamor AB and heavily damaged in a typhoon. But the P-51 is reported to have returned to the PAF Museum... |

the visit of Pres. Ramos to Seoul in June 1993, the ROK reportedly offered
the PAF eight F-5As and four F-5Bs at „friendship prices“. |

Aircraft written off after being badly damaged in take-off accident (aircraft re-paired?). |
|
14.08.86 |
F-5A |
pilot 1st Lt Noe Palmera Linsangan killed; also three people on the ground killed |
Crashed within Clark AB complex when inbound to Basa as part of a four-ship F-5A flight preparing for deployment to Palawan. The formation penetrated low clouds at about 3500 AGL when Noe, the No.4, and the No.2 pilot Quijano declared loss of visual contact with the formation and peeled off in opposite directions. A large plume of black smoke billowing from a gaping hole in the heart of Angeles City marked the spot where Noe’s F-5A exploded. |

Crashed at Clark AB. |
|
01.12.89 |
F-5A 65-10501 |
pilot Maj. Danilo Atienza killed |
Failed to pull out of a bombing run on the RAM-SFP „air force“ during the Dec 1989 coup attempt and crashed in the Cavite area. |
|
06.01.97 |
F-5A 64-13308 |
pilot Lt. John Eric Leonor killed |
Crashed into a ricefield on a riverbank at Basa AB, killing the pilot and one person on the ground, whilst seriously injuring another. The aircraft apparently suffered an elevator malfunction, failing to gain height following take-off for a four-ship flypast during an official ceremony at the base to mark handover of the 5 FW to a new commander. The PAF’s four flyable F-5s, out of seven survivors, were temporarily grounded. |

Crashed into a school compound at Mabalacat Elementary School in Barangay Poblacion in Mabalacat town, Pampanga, while on approach to Clark AB, injuring 18 residents and damaging at least 33 houses. The PAF’s remaining six F-5As were grounded. |
