Additional SF.260TP, converted from SF.260MP?Some 18 SF.260MP/WPs were originally to be upgraded to the SF.260TP standard under Project Layang, with the first being delivered in 1996. However, it seems that the project eventually involved the conversion of existing SF.260TPs from training to attack versions only and that some seven or so were converted by 2002, with the first two examples being put into service with 15th Strike Wing in Apr 2001. It is not known if the serial number below is one of the upgraded aircraft, an additional new-build aircraft or was simply mis-read. |

29-12 / 712 or 29-02 / 702? |
Engine quit in flight while on a training mission from Fernando AB. After attempts to restart the engine proved unsuccessful and the plane was already low on altitude, the pilot tried to ditch the aircraft in Lake Taal. The water impact left the instructor pilot, Maj. Roberto „Obet“ Ramos Pasion, commanding officer of 103rd Student Squadron, unconscious and still strapped into his seat as the aircraft sank in deep water. He did not get out and was declared missing presumed dead. His student, 2nd Lt. Lito Benitez, escaped safely. (If the accident in Oct 1994 did not happen, then the aircraft involved was most likely 29-02 / 702.) |

Aviation Cadet Rowena Q. Ayugan and instructor 2d Lt. Gilbert J. Marasiagan, assigned to 100th Training Wing, sustained serious injuries. |

While returning to Edwin Andrews AB from a mission with another SF.260 to locate the ship MV Spirus with alleged contraband goods, the plane developed engine problems and crashed at sea off Little Santa Cruz island near Zamboanga City. Both crew, pilot Capt. Reynaldo Rueca and co-pilot 1st Lt. Narcisco Ferrer, assigned to 3rd Tactical Operations Wing, bailed out at 1,000ft altitude and were safely rescued. |

12.12.02 |
29-11 / 711 |
Crashed through the roof of Ibiden Philippines computer factory at the First Philippine Industrial Park in Brgy. Anastasia, Sto. Tomas, Batangas, killing both crew members, pilot 1st Lt. Vincent Ramon F. Ong and backseater 1st Lt. Delfin B. Francisco Jr., both assigned to 15th Strike Wing, as well as a factory worker on the ground. Nine other workers were injured. The aircraft was simulating engine failure during a proficiency mission from Atienza AB. Following the accident, the 12 remaining SF.260s were grounded. |
